homeless veterans

Sometimes, the best way to tell a story is to just get out of the way.
Sometimes, the best way to tell a story is to just get out of the way.
Such is the case with the Homeless Veterans Project, a regional non-profit dedicated to helping homeless vets get their lives back on track. These are the facts:
- One-third of all homeless vets served in war zones.
- 50% suffer from disabilities.
- They include veterans of conflicts from Korea to Afghanistan and range in age from 18 to 85.
All this conspires to paint a picture of a great many men and women who served honorably only to go missing in action on the streets of the very country they defended.
As writer and creative director, it was glaringly obvious this was the concept for our campaign. It gained several thousand dollars for homeless veteran meals, housing, vocational training and substance abuse counseling.
I’m happy to report that efforts like this from around the country have created a 33% decline in the homeless veteran population over the past seven years.
But there are still 50,000 homeless veterans on America’s street and much work to do.
